What is LAMP?
Loop-mediated isothermal amplification, or LAMP, is a nucleic acid amplification method that runs at a single, constant temperature, typically around 60-65°C, rather than cycling through the repeated heating and cooling steps required by PCR. This is possible because LAMP uses a strand-displacing polymerase along with a set of four to six specially designed primers that recognize six to eight distinct regions of the target sequence, allowing the reaction to amplify DNA without a thermocycler.
Because LAMP requires only a simple heat source, such as a heat block or even a water bath, it has become a popular choice for point-of-care and field-based molecular testing where lab infrastructure is limited.
Why LAMP Pairs Well with Lateral Flow Detection
LAMP reactions can be engineered to produce amplicons carrying affinity tags, most commonly biotin paired with FAM or DIG, by incorporating labeled primers into the reaction. Once amplification is complete, the tagged amplicons can be applied directly to a lateral flow strip for a visual result in minutes, without needing gel electrophoresis or fluorescence instrumentation to confirm a positive result.
This pairing has made LAMP plus lateral flow one of the most common combinations in rapid infectious disease testing, agricultural pathogen screening, and other field-deployable diagnostic applications.
How Attogene’s Kits Detect LAMP Amplicons

In internal testing, the kit’s streptavidin-conjugated fluorescent particles were detectable by eye under a standard black light at concentrations as low as 3.9 femtomoles, with tagged oligonucleotide targets detectable down to 19 femtomoles

Format Options
